2021 - LRIA'S Year in Review

  • Continuance of community meetings via Zoom virtual meeting platforms
  • Appointment to the formerly-vacated position of Secretary to the LRIA Executive Board, a volunteer position of vital importance for the longevity of the Association
  • Implementation of several cost-reduction strategies, to include door-hanger distribution and website enhancement in lieu of monthly newsletters, and the elimination of minimally-used voicemail telephone services

  • New flag installation upgrades at Hillen Rd @ E. Northern Parkway, to showcase this gateway to our community
  • Launch of social media platforms to better engage residents with the Loch Raven neighborhood
  • Initiated repair (with Recs and Parks) to the damaged fencing at the Augustine J. Ryan Bird Sanctuary, along the Hillen Road corridor, for safety of pedestrians
  • Engaged in the Mayor's Spring Cleanup event, with over twenty community volunteers in attendance

  • Successful LRIA Executive Board elections, for the term ending May 2023
  • Sponsored our 1st Annual Lovin' Loch Raven Food Giveaway event, in which over 100 bags of non-perishable food were delivered to deserving persons-in-need
  • Sponsored a spring Community Pitch-in Dumpster event, for the convenience of community residents to dispose of unwanted bulk-trash items
  • Launch of 2021 Membership Drive for onboarding of new community volunteer members

  • Initiated the first of two, semi-annual community housing inspections of all homes in our LRIA neighborhood for Code and sanitation compliance  
  • Recipient of major grant for the launch of LRIA's Memorial Community Garden at Immanuel Lutheran Church, in which we have received outstanding volunteer participation

  • Relaunch of in-person community meetings at the Immanuel Lutheran Church.  Zoom virtual meeting links still available.
  • Engaged BGE on new substation construction and safety of existing signal-cell towers
  • Reintroduced the LRIA to the Community Law Center, for the purposes of establishing a legal network for addressing nuisance properties

  • Engaged Baltimore City Department of Transportation on several issues of concern, including several speed calming initiatives, street sweeping, and traffic signaling upgrades
  • Participated in a community walk of the northeast district with Ted Carter, Deputy Mayor for Community and Economic Development, and Senator Mary Washington, for the purposes of evaluating critical infrastructure

  • Sponsored our highly-successful,  Lovin' Loch Raven Community Celebration, with free activities and food for the entire family, and of which recorded a large number of participants.
  • Official ribbon-cutting dedication to our new LRIA Memorial Community Garden at Immanuel Lutheran Church.   
  • Drafted formal Letter of Dissatisfaction to Baltimore City Schools Facilities Management, in response to negligent oversight of air-conditioning at Yorkwood Elementary School.

  • Launch of the new "Spotlight" page on our LRIA.org website, in an effort to showcase positive contributions to the community
  • Sponsored Trunk or Treat Halloween event, which continues to grow in popularity every year
  • Sponsored Lovin' Loch Raven's Fall Clean-up event, in which volunteers banded together to ensure that our neighborhood is clean and maintained at its highest level.

  • Continued monitoring of illegal hunting activities within the Augustine J. Ryan Bird Sanctuary and adjacent Recreation and Parks property
  • Baltimore Choral Arts Society concert  at Immanuel Lutheran Church
  • Sponsored our successful FREE Reusable Bag Giveaway event, providing free reusable grocery bags to residents of our community
  • Supported the  Yorkwood Elementary School pantry initiative for the benefit of students, families, and the community
