LRIA’s 2022 Mayor’s Spring Cleanup Event on April 30th, was a huge success, with over fourteen community volunteers participating in the event, including representation from the police department. Our team successfully refreshed the flowerbeds and landscaping at all three community signs and entryway to Yorkwood Elementary School, and removed trash and debris from the inroads to our community.
A beautiful outcome to a beautiful day, residents of Loch Raven should be extremely proud of the effort put forth by members of this community, who continue to contribute their time and effort to keep our neighborhood clean, attractive and strong for all who live here.
Halloween is a fun time for ghosts, ghouls, and eerie traditions of yesteryear. Loch Raven hosted yet another successful event at this year's Halloween Trunk or Treat, on the lower lot of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 5701 Loch Raven Boulevard.
The event began with residents decorating their vehicles in Halloween theme, meeting up and parking their vehicles side-by-side in the style of a Halloween tailgating party, and then allowing kids to go from vehicle to vehicle to collect treats.
Mount Zion Baptist Church held its annual Harvest Fall Festival on Sunday, October 31st, 2021, with A Halloween theme of biblical characters. All of those attending had a wonderful time interacting with fun, food, prizes, and games for the entire community. Congratulations, Mt. Zion!

The LRIA Memorial Community Garden at Immanuel Lutheran Church was officially launched with a ribbon-cutting ceremony during our 2021 Lovin' Loch Raven Community Celebration event, and is the latest effort by the Loch Raven Improvement Association, Inc. to bring an urban community garden project to fruition.
With an opportunity to turn unused land into a productive garden, and a mission to bring community volunteers together, this venture offers a tremendous opportunity for anyone interested in the gardening experience.
The LRIA acknowledges the generous grant award from the Abell Foundation, Inc. and the many volunteers who assisted with this project.
LRIA's 2021 Lovin' Loch Raven Fall Clean-up Event, on Saturday, October 30th, 2021, was another successful endeavor in which neighborhood volunteers came together to spruce up the gateways to our community. The volunteers removed weeds, trash and debris, and laid fresh mulch at each of our community signs. After completion, the team met at the LRIA Memorial Community Garden, for final tune-up preparation for the fall/winter season.
Between the rain and drizzle, the LRIA still held our 2021 Community Pitch-In Dumpster Day event on May 8th, 2021. We didn't quite fill the dumpster as anticipated, but it was a successful event nonetheless. Thank you Herman, Al, and Luis for braving the elements and volunteering your time, all in an effort to allow Loch Raven residents the opportunity to dispose of unwanted household items. Way to go, guys!
The LRIA Membership Committee hosted another very successful neighborhood event on May 1st, 2021, in giving away 100 bags of non-perishable food to the community. With eleven volunteers participating in this food giveaway, the LRIA showed that even during difficult times, we are here to support those in need.
