Neighborhood Profile

The Loch Raven Improvement Association, Inc. (LRIA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community organization that represents 1200 homes, 6000 residents, and various institutions, employers, and businesses within the neighborhood.

Conveniently located along the northeastern portion of Baltimore City near the city/county line,

Loch Raven’s beautiful 467-acre neighborhood rests along the outer edge of Mt. Pleasant Park.

Our catchment area is bordered by E. Northern Parkway on the north, E. Belvedere Avenue on the south, Perring Parkway on the east, and Loch Raven Boulevard on the west.

Developed shortly after World War II, the neighborhood is a blend of brick rowhome and semi-detached styles, and is home to several well-maintained apartment complexes.  The neighborhood's prime location exposes it to a number of great community amenities, including Medstar Good Samaritan Hospital, the nationally recognized Morgan State University, and the Mt. Pleasant Golf Course.  Religious institutions, schools, shopping and dining, and sport and fitness centers are also within a stone’s throw, as is a birdwatcher destination in the Augustine J. Ryan Memorial Bird Sanctuary, dedicated in his name by the Board of Park Commissioners.

Trickling gracefully through the forested area near our northern border is LRIA’s hidden gem,

a relatively unknown branch of Herring Run, a tributary of the Back River which eventually empties

into the Chesapeake Bay.  You may be pleasantly surprised to find deer, red fox, rabbit, squirrel, opossum, and various aquatic life in this neck of the woods.

The Loch Raven neighborhood is easily accessible by multi-directional travel to and from downtown, Towson, or White Marsh within minutes, and with I-695 and I-95 just a short distance away,

any destination is possible.  Local MTA bus service provides alternative transportation options.
